Why compete?

We believe competitions play a role in motivating students to perform and excel.  The rewards for participating extend beyond winning a prize.  Competitions offer defined settings to learn in both individually and collaboratively as a team, freedom to risk without suffering severe consequences, chances for participants to uncover and develop personal aptitudes and opportunities to showcase their developing skills.

It is inspiring to watch the confidence that develops as students encourage each other, the camaraderie that grows as they congratulate and commiserate with each other, and the cheering that ensues as they participate, complete and succeed.

CGS students participate in numerous national and international competitions, including Math Kangaroo, MathCounts, Certamen Classics Competition, National Latin Exam, National Spanish Exam, Minimus Mythology Contest and others.
