April 15th-18th.  CGS administers annual tests to measure students’ performance and ability.  Beginning with the third grade, CGS students take standardized tests provided by the College of Education of the University of Iowa:  The Iowa Assessments (previously the Iowa Test of Basic Skills), known colloquially as ITBS tests.  They also take The Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT).  While the ITBS measures performance in reading, math, and language, the CogAT measures verbal, quantitative and non-verbal reasoning abilities.  In crafting students’ educational goals and expectations, we analyze the ITBS and CogAT results in conjunction with each other to provide additional data in order to hone and understand the students’ overall academic profiles.   Testing occurs in the mornings for grades 3 and up on Monday through Thursday of this week.
