3rd Annual Echoes of the Civil Rights Movement CGS Speech Competition

February 27 @ 1:00 pm - 2:15 pm

CGS students participate in celebrating our First Amendment right to Freedom of Speech.   They select a quote.  They write and present a speech explaining why their chosen quote is still relevant and important today and how it applies to them personally. Prizes are awarded!   This year’s quotes are as follows:

How many years has it taken people to realize that we are all brothers and sisters and human beings in the human race? — Marsha P. Johnson

I am not free while any woman is unfree, even when her shackles are very different from my own. — Audre Lord

Fight for the things that you care about, but do it in a way that will lead others to join you.  — Ruth Bader Ginsburg

I’m no longer accepting the things I cannot change.  I’m changing the things I cannot accept.  — Angela Davis

Never, ever be afraid to make some noise and get in good trouble, necessary trouble.  — John Lewis
