CGS Re-accredited
"The school implements a classical curriculum model that is both horizontally and vertically integrated and articulated...It is a best practice that most schools aspire to, but more often than not, do not practice to any significant degree." This was just one of the commendations the NCA-CASI accreditation team "believed was most deserving of being highlighted" as they gave us the highest ranking possible in Teaching and Learning. Even more inspiring, they wrote that CGS "students are very successful learners and enjoy learning."
CGS is proud to be awarded continuing accreditation with NCA CASI. The North Central Association Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement (NCA-CASI) accredits public and private schools and districts in 30 states, Latin America, and the Dept. of Defense Schools worldwide. On April 9, 2012, the NCA team visited CGS for our re-accreditation process. They observed classes and had meetings with parents, students and staff. The team was very impressed with CGS and our students. They noted the following as CGS strengths most deserving of being highlighted:
- Teaching and Learning
The team admired the high level of integration enabling "students [to] learn by making and strengthening connections between learning in different subject areas and over the different grades". They found the curriculum to be "rigorous and challenging." - Communication
The team commended the exceptional degree of collegiality among the teachers working closely together: "they are creating learning links that elevate student learning". - Community
The team applauded our use of community resources to "maintain and expand educational programming." They specifically highlighted the "extensive program of field trips" and the "excellent physical education facilities" CGS is able to provide.
