Welcome

The mission of The Chicago Grammar School is to provide children, preschool through eighth grade, the means to construct knowledge through experience, within the richness of a classical curriculum, informed by emerging research.

Our educational program is designed to foster life-long learners by developing academic skill and proficiency, intellectual curiosity, personal wisdom and virtue, and responsible participation in society.

CGS Merit Scholarships!  Where can you find a Classical Liberal Arts education beginning in Elementary School?  Here at CGS.  To help families afford this timeless education, CGS is offering scholarships from $2,000 to $13,000 to new students.   Contact us for details.

CGS in the Movies!  All CGS students played a part in the creation of the movie, "One Fine Day at CGS", directed and produced by CGS parent and independent film maker Jonas Raeber.  Jonas and his family make their home in Switzerland and received a grant from the city of Lucerne to live in Chicago for artistic inspiration.  Jonas organized a wonderful project on stop animation for all of the students.  The children participated in the filming, operated equipment, starred in the video, learned patience (!) and reaped the rewards of seeing their efforts come to life.

CGS in Print!  The January issue of Chicago Parent's Making the Grade ran an article entitled, "The Written Word", which featured the strengths of the Grammar, Writing and Latin curriculum here at CGS.   Photos of our preschool classes also graced their article on "Preschool Shopping's Ins and Outs".
