CGS seeks to repeat success, having won the Illinois Certamen League Junior High Division – Chicagoland Region for four out of the past five years.  Certamen, meaning “contest” in Latin, exists at the junior high, high school and collegiate levels and is regarded as a Latin Quiz Bowl. Teams of four players compete head to head answering questions about the Latin language (grammar, vocabulary, usage), Roman culture, history, and literature, and Greek and Roman mythology. The state of Illinois is divided up into regions; winners of each region battle for the State Championship.  The winning team has the highest aggregate score from the November, December and February rounds of play.  CGS has won Rounds One and Two.  Wish us good luck with Round Three tonight!
