Emerging Research

The 1990s were declared by the Congress of the United States of America to be the "Decade of the Brain".  Due to technological advances, researchers began to have a better understanding of how the brain works. This research continues today in the rapidly developing world of cognitive neuroscience.

In tandem with this development has been the on-going work of applying the research to educational practice.

The Chicago Grammar School believes that it is imperative to remain knowledgeable as to the developments in cognitive neuroscience developments and to implement practice informed by these developments in the classroom.

As a member of the Learning and the Brain Society (www.edupr.com) and the American Educational Research Association (www.aera.net), CGS has access to the latest brain-based educational strategies from leaders in the field.   CGS also has access to the course materials used by Harvard Graduate School of Education's Mind, Brain and Education Program.  These strategies and materials will be implemented as part of our teacher development and shared within the Teacher/Parent/Child venture.
